GA MAINTENANCE IS MORE DEMANDING THAN EVER
Shops are booked out, workloads are heavy, and mechanics are pulled in multiple directions with limited time, data, and backup.
Beyond the broader workforce shortage, the immediate reality is clear: mechanics need practical tools, better information, and real support to work efficiently and confidently.
Savvy has seen these pressures firsthand through its work with aircraft owners and shops worldwide. Savvy for Shops is our commitment to helping mechanics directly—through training, data-driven guidance, and tools that reduce rework, save time, and lighten the load for the people who keep general aviation flying.
BUILDING A STRONGER FUTURE FOR GA MAINTENANCE
Under the banner Savvy for Shops, we’ve launched three new programs aimed squarely at the pressures facing today’s GA mechanics. These facilitate peer-to-peer collaboration among GA mechanics and shops, educate GA mechanics about the latest methods and techniques, and provide expert advice, troubleshooting assistance and second opinions by GA’s top subject matter specialists.

Modeled after the private forum Savvy’s IAs have used internally for more than a decade, this free online community is built specifically for GA mechanics.
ShopTalk is a place for mechanics only to:
-
Talk through tough maintenance problems
-
Share practical tech tips and real-world experience
-
Discuss parts sourcing, tools, and shop operations
-
Post job openings or career opportunities
-
Learn from other mechanics who work on airplanes every day
Savvy’s team of nearly 50 A&P/IAs, analysts, and specialists are active participants in the forum–sharing insights, answering questions, and learning alongside you. Past discussion threads are also searchable, so the historical information is available, and nothing gets lost.
To get access, just click the button below and confirm your AMT status.
If you already have a Savvy account, once you request access, you’ll be able to access ShopTalk immediately at no cost. If you don’t have an account yet, the system will lead you through setting one up for free, and it only takes about 15 seconds.

This 8-hour, video-based online course is FAA-accepted and designed primarily for A&P mechanics with Inspection Authorization (IA) privileges who are required to complete 8 hours of certified training annually to maintain their IA. That said, the course is open to anyone interested in modern, evidence-based aircraft maintenance.
Course highlights include:
-
FAA regulations relevant to IA maintenance
-
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
-
Principles of troubleshooting
